We are looking for volunteers to help with Staff Appreciation Week May 5-9 for one (or more!) day's event setup or cleanup, as well as help storing items in your home fridge or freezer for a day or two before the event.
This is our big staff appreciation event of the school year, and it really does take a community for events such as these to happen!

BOOK FAIR
When: May 19-23
Where: OGMS

-Two shifts each day with two volunteers for each sift the week of May 19-May 23
Volunteer Slots:
-One monitor and one cashier from 12:02-12:32 on Monday, Tuesday and Friday
-One monitor and one cashier from 4-4:45 Monday-Friday
-One monitor and one cashier from 12:21-1:00 on Wednesday and Thursday
The monitors will be making sure that students take their backpacks off before entering, and help students find things in the fair (as well as general monitoring to make sure things don't walk away unpaid for...)
The cashiers will be checking out purchases. There will be training provided for how to use the cash register.
The volunteers during the last shift on Friday will need to stay a little longer to pack things up.

COMMUNITY CLEAN UP
When: May 17th

-Saturday May 17th from 10:30-3ish (the event is from 11-2)
Volunteer Needs:
10:30-11: Set Up. Help set up tables and materials for the raffle, as well as supplies from SOLVE. (Need 4 volunteers)
11-12: Check-in. Help check-in volunteers, and make sure all volunteers under the age of 13 have a signed waiver or a parent present. (Need 2 volunteers)
11-12:30: Raffle monitoring shift #1. Monitor the raffle table to help volunteers if they have questions about the raffle. Hand out raffle tickets. Keep an eye on materials while volunteers are working on community clean up event. (Need 2 volunteers)
12:30-2: Raffle monitoring shift #2. Monitor the raffle table to help volunteers if they have questions about the raffle. Hand out raffle tickets. Keep an eye on materials while volunteers are working on community clean up event. (Need 2 volunteers)
2-3: Clean Up. Help put away materials and break down tables. (Need 4 volunteers).

Volunteers can certainly sign up for more than one shift! The Community Clean Up event will have food and a raffle, which volunteers can definitely take part in! It should be a very fun event :)

Some parents and staff have shared concerns about the safety of the Ainsworth & Montana intersection during drop-off and pick-up. In past years, community members have volunteered as crossing guards, and Principal Rierson would like to support a restart of this tradition. If you can help, whether just once or twice or on a regular basis, please reach out to Principal Rierson.

Additional details: Having an extra adult or two in class to offer encouragement and assistance can boost student confidence and comprehension. The main prerequisite, after clearing the PPS Volunteer registration process, is that you’re patient, positive, and willing to learn. Content expertise is not required.
